"It was August 13, 2005 and what a perfect day it was to play soccer. I remember everything about that day. During my first game of the tournament; my teammate passed me a through ball, I ran onto it, and for some reason I still don’t understand I slid to get the ball, and as I did the other teams keeper came out to get the ball, and we collided. Here I was 65 pounds soaking wet, going up against someone who was twice my size, so you can bet the outcome wasn’t very good."

"My revision surgery was performed May 9, 2013. I was the first patient to undergo this procedure utilizing Mako robotics. Every aspect of my experience was outstanding: Staff, facilities, surgery, and recovery (orthopaedic surgery, anesthesiology, radiology, phlebotomy, medicine, physical therapy, nursing, laboratory, admitting, administrative support, kitchen, services, and more). "At the end of August I was enjoying a long weekend in Nantucket when my friends and I decided it would be fun to rent motor scooters to explore the island. It was fun until the very end of the day when my scooter skidded and I landed on my right foot (as well as my knee, hip, elbow and head). I knew immediately that I had done a lot of damage to my foot. After being rushed to the local hospital and a full workup I was told that I would need surgery to repair the broken bones in my foot."

Sue Helston, Cornwall, United Kingdom

"28th July, 1968 was a day that changed my life. From being a fit, attractive and energetic 20 year old mum with an 8 month old baby I became an unattractive, disabled female with little hope of continuing to live a normal life. On this day, I was involved in a serious road accident that left me with a badly disfigured face, brain damage with memory loss, multiple vision, a hand that had been sewn back after being almost severed."
