We strongly encourage all to submit a photo or video of how they got back in the game of life in any fashion. Whether it comes from a cell phone, camcorder, or a selfie stick, we welcome all forms of visuals.
Back in the Game submissions, when approved, will go up on the site within two hours of submission. Our team will notify you as your story goes live.
At the moment, we are not requiring patients to create an account or login information. This means that we encourage those who would like to submit their story to do so in their first attempt. You are welcome to draft it on a separate document and cut and paste your finished work into the submission form.
If a patient is 18 years of age or under and would like his/her story to be submitted Back in the Game, a parent or legal guardian should submit his/her story on his/her behalf.
Yes, with your approval, a representative can submit your story on your behalf.
If we deem a part of your submission to be unacceptable for posting on the Back in the Game site, we will notify you by email with suggestions and recommendations so that we can share your story.
If you have additional questions, you can contact the HSS Marketing Communications team at 212-606-1197 or by email at socialmediacontact@hss.edu.
Whether it is editing your story or adding more photos and/or videos, you can notify the HSS team at socialmediacontact@hss.edu with your changes and we will be happy to assist.
As soon as your story goes live on the Back in the Game site, we will send you an email notification, which will contain shareable links via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and email. Social media sharing options are also available on your story page.
Your "Back in the Game" story has no expiration date and will live for many generations of patients to see. Also, we will continue to collect and post stories to the Back in the Game site as they come along for all to see.
Patients can submit multiple photos. Once submitted, your photos will be reviewed by the HSS team and posted live.
If you don't see your condition or treatment listed, the HSS team will match to the appropriate term and category.
In addition to the Back in the Game site, your story may have a presence on the official Hospital for Special Surgery site (www.hss.edu) and may be listed in their respective condition pages and by physician or therapist. Other possibilities include posters and promotional materials that will be displayed onsite at our HSS locations.
Stories must be at least a paragraph long (4-5 sentences). Of course, you are more than welcome to share as much as you would like.
