Every runner deals with aches and pains. What you might not have considered is that your body mechanics, the way that your body moves in space and hits the ground when you run, are having a tremendous impact on your performance and your potential for injury over time. "It was when I realized that soon I would not be able to tie my shoes that I decided it was time to act. The operation and physical therapy could not have gone better. I did suffer from what i believe were very tight "hip flexors" and hot yoga helped resolve that problem. A year later, I ran a 5 mile Turkey Trot. I bought a new bicycle and have resumed "cautious" skiing. "

"The day of my surgery (my second knee after 11 years) was the hottest day in August. I arrived at HSS early AM via Uber (Type A first patient of the day who wants to be in and out!) started Sx at 8:01 AM (see what I mean?) and awakened without issue. After a day of using crutches, I return to work as an attorney without crutches, visit the next week with Dr. W who is amazed at the recovery (and the story) and begin physiotherapy at Princeton Physical Therapy with fantastic results. No pain (I am able to run again) and no limitations on movement. HSS, you have done it again!"

"Before surgery, I could not do any physical activity involving my hip. At the time I was a swimmer. Every day after practice, my teammates would have to help me out of the pool because of the pain. Even outside of practice, my hip would affect every aspect of my life. My experience at Hospital for Special Surgery was nothing but positive. Although recovery was difficult, the staff was very friendly and concerned about making the process as smooth and pain free as they possibly could. Since the surgery, my hip has become completely pain free and I am more active than ever!"
