I've been a competitive athlete all my life. In 2012, I was training in Greece for an upcoming boxing tournament (Golden Gloves) when I sustained a shoulder injury. After seeing several different physicians who all told me I will need a label repair and may not box competitively again. I decided to go to HSS for a final opinion. I met with Dr. David Dines, who is a world renowned surgeon. I decided to go forward with him to do the repair. When he was operating, he removed a loose body that was floating in my shoulder joint, but did not touch the labrum. After the operation he mentioned that it was unnecessary and would further complicate things. Following the operation, I was back in therapy the following week! Amazing surgeon, amazing results.

I sustained another injury, this time on my hand. It was compounded from boxing, and then falling down the stairs by train on the way back from training. This time I immediately knew which hospital I would go to receive treatment (HSS). I met with Dr Steve K. Lee who specializes in hand surgery. This was a very debilitating injury that prevented me to box and ultimately halted my boxing career. I went in for surgery April 4, 2014. By November, I was back into my routine (lightly) since my hand was not yet 100%. I went to see a dry needle specialist (Dr. Eric Siegel), who happens to be a military physician as well. When he looked in my hand with ultrasound he told me the surgeon did a tremendous job, perfect to be exact. He said a better operation could not have been performed, but there was some scar tissue that built up during the healing process which hindered the joints full mobility. After a few dry needling sessions I was back and better than ever in my sport of boxing, and even just recently won the world famous Daily News Golden Gloves Championship on April 2, 2015, exactly one year after the hand surgery! I am extremely pleased with the care from Hospital of Special Surgery and would not go anywhere else for treatment.
