I contracted MRSA after surgery in Nov 2012. The MRSA entered my blood stream and kept returning. I needed 8 I&D surgeries. My left femur broke twice and 7 months later it separated from the metal plates. The result was non-union because the MRSA had eaten the femur. I was recommended to HSS and Dr. S. Robert Rozbruch in Nov. 2013 bone-reconstruction was performed in April 2014. Additional surgery was performed in May 2014.
From Nov 2012 to Nov. 2014, I spent over 20 weeks in Rehab and had 12 surgeries. I was in a wheelchair and later on a walker with non-weight bearing status until Nov2014. Up until then I swam 3 times a week, snowmobiled in the winter and lived on my sail boat in the Caribbean. Life as I knew it stopped until Dr Rozbruch worked his skilled magic and I am started walking with a cane in Nov.2014. I am now swimming, snowmobiling (video to follow) and expect to be back on our boat "Watercolors" in April. Dr Rozbruch and HSS gave me back my life put me "Back In The Game." I would also like to thank Dr. Michael Henry for his ongoing work in keeping my MRSA dormant. His gentle, caring manner instills a wonderful feeling of hope in the future.
