I couldn’t play racquetball anymore, the game I loved. I couldn’t wear high heels. I couldn’t spend the day on my feet without pain it was unbearable and uncomfortable. It was affecting my whole life. And I couldn’t take anti-inflammatory medications. Dr. Padgett gave me my normal life back again. He encouraged me to have the surgery and because I was so healthy otherwise, we did bilateral partial knee replacements at the same time at HSS.
He encouraged me to be serious about the PT that would be necessary afterward, which I was.
And after COVID I went back to him for help because I was recovering from breast cancer — I regressed with my exercise and activity & couldn’t move as well. He assured me that I’d be OK if I started moving again. And explained to me that YOGA would be my best friend!
I am happily doing my strength training AND learned how to play pickleball! I am forever grateful to him for his encouragement; his commitment to his vocation as a surgeon; and his wonderful personality in how he relates so well to his patients! He is a trailblazer in his field but also a man of dignity and positivity!
