Shortly after I was born, I was diagnosed with spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy (CP) marked by stiff limbs. At times it’s been a challenge, but that challenge has turned me into the person I am today.

My family had noticed that I was struggling with extremely tight muscles in my legs and decided it would be best to look into it further. Not having much luck with other physicians and hearing messages of doubt, a family friend recommended Dr. Leon Root who was very optimistic as to what we could accomplish if we took the necessary steps. He performed several procedures starting with Botox injections followed by surgeries where my hips were rotated and tendons were lengthened. I would follow up with Dr. Root until he unfortunately passed away in September 2015. I then started seeing Dr. Dodwell who performed another successful surgery in 2018. I have also worked with Scott Siverling and currently work with Andrea Minsky to help me better manage my condition, maintain a high level of physical activity, and prevent any injuries.

Managing CP is a team effort. Without the support of my team at HSS, none of the things I do today would ever be possible. I believe that the success that we have had together over many years has allowed me to live the life I do today and accomplish things that were once thought to be impossible. I will be running the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on March 20, 2022. I will be running for CP patients all over the world to show that when you believe in yourself and have the support of great people, anything is possible. I will also be running for my team at HSS and hope to make them proud. I am grateful for the support you have given me and all that we have accomplished.
