I am a long distance runner. While training for the 2022 NYC Marathon, I had chronic, stabbing pain in my adductor then in my pelvis. I sought answers from Dr. Wyss. He not only listened to me, which is quite validating as a woman, but ran tests to come up with a diagnosis. My adductor tore from my pelvis and secondary but more debilitating was a pelvis stress fracture. I had to not only defer my marathon run until 2023 but had to stop running all together for 6 months. I worked with Dr. Wyss on a specific plan to keep me mobile, understanding the need for me to move my body. I religiously went to PT twice a week, biked and hiked. I had a bone density scan done with Dr. Serota and nutritional counseling. The injury took longer than needed and a plan B was designed. After another MRI, I knew my body was just taking a longer time to heal. With Dr. Wyss’ blessing, I started running again. Cautious at first and then gaining strength and speed. Since June, I’ve been back to my normal self. I’ve ran hundreds of miles, including finishing the Suffolk County Marathon 3:53:10 yesterday. I feel good today and ready to PR in NYC. Thank you HSS for getting me back to my happy place.
