A meniscus is cartilage on the sides of the knee joint that absorbs shock and protect the articular cartilage that lines the femur (thighbone) and tibia (shin bone). Torn menisci are common among athletes but are also found in older patients with arthritis. "About a year and a half ago, I was having trouble with my left knee. Feeling very frustrated I decided to turn to the Internet. I looked up “top orthopedic doctors” and found Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. David Mayman. After reviewing my case Dr. Mayman agreed to see me."

"My knee feels better than ever. I laugh when I think back to my original doctor who told me I would never play again. Dr. Warren gave me back my playing career and a huge piece of my life. I am forever grateful to that man."

"The day of my surgery (my second knee after 11 years) was the hottest day in August. I arrived at HSS early AM via Uber (Type A first patient of the day who wants to be in and out!) started Sx at 8:01 AM (see what I mean?) and awakened without issue. After a day of using crutches, I return to work as an attorney without crutches, visit the next week with Dr. W who is amazed at the recovery (and the story) and begin physiotherapy at Princeton Physical Therapy with fantastic results. No pain (I am able to run again) and no limitations on movement. HSS, you have done it again!"
