Every runner deals with aches and pains. What you might not have considered is that your body mechanics, the way that your body moves in space and hits the ground when you run, are having a tremendous impact on your performance and your potential for injury over time. Check out how the following runners crossed the finish line of recovery.

Xochitl New York, NY

"In June 2013, I was in an exercise class when I had a sudden pain in my left hip. At first, I thought I had pulled a muscle in my groin. After I realized I had a more serious problem, I looked up the best hip doctors in New York City and found Dr. Buly (and HSS). Dr. Buly immediately diagnosed me with torn labrums and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) in both hips. At first, I thought I might never run again. I was wrong. "

"The day of my surgery (my second knee after 11 years) was the hottest day in August. I arrived at HSS early AM via Uber (Type A first patient of the day who wants to be in and out!) started Sx at 8:01 AM (see what I mean?) and awakened without issue. After a day of using crutches, I return to work as an attorney without crutches, visit the next week with Dr. W who is amazed at the recovery (and the story) and begin physiotherapy at Princeton Physical Therapy with fantastic results. No pain (I am able to run again) and no limitations on movement. HSS, you have done it again!"

"From my first visit with Dr. Wyss, I couldn't have been more happy with the decision I made. Dealing with a chronic knee condition involves patience, knowing your limitations, and dedication. He discussed my condition in thorough fashion, provided a detailed outline of options, but most importantly gave me hope and assurance."
