Before I found Dr Emami, I had been living with a concussion and other chronic pain for four years. Previously, I received several months of treatment at a well-known New York hospital's concussion center. In addition, there was medical coaching, programs, and multiple rounds of different types of physical therapy. While they all helped to a certain degree, in terms of concussion, none of these works as well or thoroughly as the treatment I received from Dr. Emami and Hannah, the physical therapist he works with.
He and his team make sure the patient understands the consistency of the exercises and follows the plan with accountability check-ins, which is one of the keys to recovery. Navigating multiple diagnoses, my symptoms are complex and can be conflicting with some treatments. His explanations are clear and measurable with priorities, so my execution can be more accurate, reducing the chances of flare-ups, as the correct recovery involves fine-tuning. With the care he provided, along the way, I felt very comfortable asking any questions and discussing concerns, as 4 years of disability generated mind and body difficulties in daily activities. When needed, he is resourceful in recommending other practitioners to assist with recovery.
We worked together for 5 months. Not only are my concussion symptoms resolved, but it has also boosted my confidence, allowing work-level concentration for a much longer time. I walk away with the mentality to challenge myself, especially when it seems most difficult, and with the precious success experience to apply to other aspects of life.
I sincerely appreciate the care that Dr. Emami and my PT Hannah offered to me. While wishing I had found his team at the very beginning of my journey, I will recommend anyone I know with a concussion to come to his team as soon as possible.
