My name is Sixtine and I received a total hip replacement in November 2019 at the age of 22. I had a severe case of Perthes disease as a child and was handicapped for 2 years before getting my first surgery at the age of 7. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I was really into sports: I was on my high school basketball team and joined my college alpine ski racing team at Bowdoin College. My hip quickly deteriorated in college, until Dr. Buly changed my life for the better.
I'm now a neuroscience PhD student at Dartmouth College, but I'm still passionate about sports. I've pushed through to defy the odds and ran my first marathon in 2023 for the Rare Disease Foundation in France. Since then, I've competed in the IRONMAN 70.3 New York and just completed a sub 3:30 marathon in Italy. This wouldn't have been possible without the excellent care I received with Dr. Buly and the entire team at HSS.
Thank you for giving me a new life. I am eternally grateful.
