I was diagnosed with scleroderma in 2009 when I lived in Washington D.C. I moved back home to NYC in 2012 and transferred my care to Dr. Jessica Gordon at HSS. Dr. Gordon is one of the most knowledgeable and patient-focused, caring doctors I have had, and I have had many doctors. She always listens to what I have to say and what I want and balances that with my treatment to keep me going, keep me functioning in the world. My hand therapist, Aviva Wolff kept my hands functioning for a long time, even though I was not always the best patient when I wasn't doing my exercises at home. Working with Dr. Daniel Osei and NP Kenneth Herbst helped heal a particularly bad wound I had on one of my pinkies where I was afraid I would lose the finger.
The doctors at HSS really work as a team and when you have a disease as complicated as scleroderma, you need a good team that works together seamlessly. That is what I have at HSS.
