Before I came to HSS I had gotten to the point where I could barely walk let alone participate in sports I enjoy. A previous doctor said it was just arthritis and put me in PT. That helped but I just knew it was more that. I asked a friend if she knew of a doctor at HSS I could talk to and she sent me to Dr. McLawhorn - he'd treated her mother so I trusted the referral. What a gamechanger. Dr. McLawhorn and his team were so friendly, put me at ease, and explained everything to me without being condescending. HSS is like a well-oiled machine with the whole process from pre-op and operation, to post-op and recovery. The special floor at Stamford Hospital also was a great experience. My recovery is going really well. I'm walking with ease, traveling again, and have NO PAIN. My husband says I'm a happy person again. I have just returned from Sedona, AZ and did 3 big trail hikes with no pain or lingering issue. In due time I'll be back on the pickleball court and playing golf.
