After 18 months of increasing weakness in and numbness in my right leg, 5 other orthopedists explained my deteriorating symptoms as muscular and prescribed rest. With rest came more severe symptoms. I decided to seek a fresh set of eyes and ears. I met Dr. Karen Sutton, who diagnosed me with endofibrosis of the external iliac artery. Within 24 hours she found me the leading vascular surgeon in the country. Through my odyssey back to triathlon, Dr. Sutton guided me with her positivity.
During my “rebuild”, my Achilles was severely strained. Enter Dr. O’Malley! He assured me that with patience, a boot and some PRP, I would be back to triathlon. On May 21, 2023 I returned to Ironman 70.3 in Chattanooga, TN. It was joyous to toe the line with over 3,000 competitors and share our passion for triathlon through the Chattanooga river, the streets of Chattanooga and Georgia, and back through the waterfront of the Chattanooga River. Thank you Drs. Sutton and O’Malley for supporting me with their acumen and respect.
