Total Hip Replacement
Surgeon: Dr. Vigdorchik
Surgery: 11/13/2023
If someone would ask me to describe Dr. Vigdorchik in 3 words, they would be; Perfectionist, Dedicated, Honest. He loves what he does & it shows.
My name is Lisa and this is my incredible journey. I was told I needed a hip replacement & I needed someone who could handle complicated cases due to osteoarthritis (I lost height in one leg, which Dr Vigdorchik fixed). I started researching and picked 3 specialists that fit my needs. I was not totally OK with the way the consultation went for more of my own reasons. So I went home to continue researching. My family was very adamant about me going to HSS. So I decided looking up doctors at HSS that specialized in total hip replacements. After finding Dr Vigdorchik, whose skills went above state, I scheduled a consultation.
The ease of appointment scheduling, cleanliness & the way everything was done so orderly was impressive. However, the minute I met Dr. Vigdorchik, he viewed my x-rays and imaging (all done within the same building) and explained in detail things to do prior, during, and post-surgery. I told him right there I wanted him to do my surgery because I was so pleased with his treatment plan.
The day of surgery, I literally could not walk and needed a wheelchair. The pain was so bad. The smooth check in process as well as the nurses and anesthesiologist were so comforting and caring. Dr. Vigdorchik came in and advised me that everything will be fine and I'm in good hands. WHICH I DEFINITELY WAS! After surgery, in recovery, I had no pain at all. Mind you this entire process my husband knew exactly what area I was in by the television screens. I chose to be an outpatient because I was concerned with the long drive to the east end of the island. I had no pain. I walked in and out of the car and up stairs to my home without an ounce of pain. I was so impressed and very pleased with the outcome.
During my recovery at home, I had little to no pain. The first week I was walking with a walker around the house & outside. The second week, I used a cane, continued home exercises, and outdoor walking doing 3,000 steps. My physical therapist was quiet pleased. By the third week, I was walking on own. To date, I have no limitations. I can go on walks, bike ride with my husband and am able to keep up with my boys without limping or pain.
People I know cannot believe how well I have healed. They say I could literally be a spokesperson for Dr. V. & HSS.
I can not express how grateful I am to Dr. Vigdorchik for being an amazing doctor and surgeon whose expertise goes beyond any expectations. I would also like to thank my anesthesiologist, Stephanie Chang, who was just amazing, Lisa Pugliese, Dr. Vigdorchik's sweet and caring office manager, and his entire staff for their exceptional service.
You gave me my life back.
