After 2 years of excruciating pain, missed diagnoses of spinal stenosis and sciatica, orthopedics, chiropractors, 6 epidural shots with NO relief and frustration beyond belief, a back surgeon recommended by a friend recognized my symptoms as being the result of a deteriorated hip – not stenosis or sciatica.
The reputation for infection control and the experience performing joint replacements held by Hospital for Special Surgery drew me to that facility. A neighbor recommended Dr. Boettner. Extensive research revealed excellent qualifications being exhibited by the hospital and Dr. Boettner so I chose both to perform my surgery – the best decision I could have made.
I spent an entire career as a Registered Nurse working in a hospital setting and I set my standards high for medical teams and facilities. Dr. Boettner was extremely professional and thorough in his explanations of my problem and the procedure to fix it. This professionalism and thoroughness was also displayed by his entire staff (two in particular - P.A. Danielle, and Leslie who arranged all the scheduling –both handled everything in a very efficient and courteous manner). In addition, the Nursing care, post-operative care and Physical Therapy handled by the hospital staff were all top-notch! Pre-op went smoothly and the pre-class was informative and reassuring. Dr. Parr, whom I saw for medical clearance, was also caring and thorough.
I credit Dr. Boettner, his staff, and Hospital for Special Surgery with the successful replacement of my left and subsequently my right hip. They returned me to a pain-free life (now going on 3 years). I am once again able to get down on the floor to play with my grandchildren so I can unequivocally say that both the hospital and Dr. Boettner got me ‘BACK IN THE GAME’ – literally!
