My experience with HSS started with conversation I had when I called the office of Dr. Huang when trying to make an appointment. Dr. Huang was highly recommended by an associate of mine but it was the interaction with Hava, his medical assistant who made me feel that I was in the right place.

Generally, you are feeling apprehensive about any intervention with a medical professional as no one likes to go to the doctor. Hava put me at ease with her soothing and compassionate tone and attitude as we attempted to set up the appointment.

First impressions are important when you enter into any relationship, and Hava was the person who represented the doctor and HSS.

My case was complicated and my insurance no fault claim was tedious up to and including the surgery and throughout rehab. Hava has an amazing calming mannerism that I have never seen in all my years visiting doctors and hospitals. When I look back on why I am now on a path to better health, of course it was due to the brilliance of Dr. Huang and his amazing consultative excellence throughout, which was the backbone of my recovery. But if you asked me to identify the star during my surgical journey, it would be Hava.

Today after 6 months of rehab, she makes me feel like I am the most important patient she deals with. That’s a talent unmatched, in my opinion, from anyone I have ever dealt with in the health care industry. Simply put, she cares and that comes out in everything she ever did for me as a patient of Dr. Huang and HSS

Update (7-2-2018):

I realized this week, almost one year after cervical spine surgery, that the physician I chose and his staff continue caring for patients. To get Back in the Game you need precision skills, but also the heart of a provider who takes the time to make you feel better, even one year after the anesthesia wears off. Dr. Huang and ALL the wonderful people on his team (especially Erica and Hava) truly care about their patients and I am thankful that they helped me get Back in the Game!
