I had experienced numbness down my left leg for years. I was always told that it was a tight IT band, or sciatica. As a result of speaking to my GP, I was given exercises to loosen it up and told to seek PT. Neither of these approaches worked and over time, the numbness increased and eventually caused weakness in the leg. I often had to sit to allow the numbness to pass, which at times was not successful. During PT I was sent for x-rays and an MRI and it was noted that I had a grade 3+ spondylolisthesis. I was told this was a structural weakness and although the PT would provide temporary relief, it was not a permanent solution. I submitted my records to HSS and was pleased to learn that Dr. Lebl would see me for a consult. He reviewed all my prior records while conducting a full examination himself. He was thorough, professional and extremely knowledgeable about my condition. He stated that he could perform surgery to relieve my pain, through the use of BMP - Bone Morphogenetic Protein promote bone growth. Surgery was scheduled for January 2018 and it was a complete success. My experience at HSS was top-notch from my first appointment, through pre-surgery requirements, through surgery and recovery. Today, 20 months later, I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made. Thank you Dr. Lebl and your team and HSS for everything - you guys rock.
