For years I have not been able to wear certain shoes due to extreme pain in my right foot. Thinking it was a bunion, I showed Dr. O'Malley. He actually was quite excited to explain to me that I had a condition called Hallux Rigidus. No range of motion in my big toe due to arthritis. Other doctors had not picked up on this. He explained the surgery I would need and assured me he could fix my problem. He told me there was no pain involved and that I would be back quickly in shoes. My surgery was performed February 10, 2015. The staff at HSS was incredibly kind to me and made me feel confident that I chose the right place. From the moment I woke up to the present day I can honestly say I never had one bit of pain! My recovery was truly amazing! 10 days post surgery true to his word, Dr. O'Malley had me back in real shoes. 6 weeks post surgery, I wore high heels to a wedding. Around the same time I was back to spinning!!! 8 weeks post surgery, I am back on the treadmill!!! In addition to Dr. O'Malley being such a caring and competent doctor, his staff is unreal. Danny, at the front desk has been patient and kind to me with the booking of my appointments. Melissa, Dr. O'Malley's Physician Assistant, has responded to every email since the day of my surgery. What an incredible group of professionals and what a fabulous experience this has been for me! As I have said to Dr. O'Malley many times before, I may not be a famous person, but I matter and I wanted the best care possible and that is exactly what I got!!!
