For the last two years, I lived my life in agony while breeding racehorses. I worked 10-hour days, often walking nearly eight miles, only to come home in excruciating ankle pain. I assumed it was arthritis, but Dr. Demetracopoulos discovered that I had been walking on a chronic, broken tibia. Every morning, I cried just putting my boot on for work because the pain was unbearable.
Now, six months after my ankle replacement, my life has changed dramatically. I am still attending physical therapy, but the difference is incredible. For the first time in almost three years, I can walk for fun. I had minimal pain after surgery, and today I have increased mobility and range of motion—completely pain-free.
I am endlessly grateful for the exceptional surgeon Dr. Demetracopoulos is and for the incredible new ankle he gave me. I’m especially excited to go hiking with my husband again, something we haven’t been able to do in over four years because of my ankle pain. I now have a pain-free outlook on life, and by sharing my story, I hope to give others who are suffering the hope that a pain-free future is possible.
