I feel uniquely qualified to recommend Dr. Maynard as he has performed 2 unrelated surgeries on me. I'm not sure if there is a better endorsement to give a doctor than repeat business. Truth be told, I'd let him operate on me again.
My first operation was a knee reconstruction after a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. At 40, my life of soccer, running and sports had finally taken their toll. I sought treatment locally but it was clear I needed a true specialist. I called HSS and quickly made an appointment, no waiting, no hassles.
Dr. Maynard has a very calming, compassionate personality. It was clear I needed surgery and Dr. Maynard and staff quickly scheduled the surgery. The entire procedure was focused around my goals and what I wanted to achieve. My goal was to return to a normal life without constant knee pain. In addition, I love spending time on the water with family and friends. I needed knee stability for that to continue. Dr. Maynard used a new procedure called the Cols technique that shortened my recovery. The outcome was nothing short of a brilliant success. Except...
I had been having pain in my left hip for a long time. Nothing major to start, but it became chronic and worse as time went on. I saw Dr. Maynard again and he diagnosed me as having arthritis and recommended a hip resurfacing procedure. His advice was to wait as long as I could. It came to the point where I was unable to walk, sleep or do very basic life activities. The procedure was completed on November 21, 2014 and my arthritis pain was instantly gone. I was walking within 24 hours and back to enjoying simple things, like tying my own shoes.
It’s been 5 months post-op and I’m back to the gym 6 days a week. Now that I no longer have knee or hip pain, it’s such a great pleasure to not be in agony after a leg workout. To say Dr. Maynard, his staff and the broader HSS staff are great is truly an understatement. To me they are miracle workers.
