I had significant deterioration and basically bone on bone of the interior sections of both my right and left knee. Dr. Figgie recommended uni-compartmental bi-lateral knee replacement. The procedure took place five years ago this coming February and I couldn't be happier with the results. Prior to surgery I wasn't able to walk two blocks without significant pain and now I am pain-free most of the time. When I overdo it from time to time my knees ache for a few hours and then I'm back to being pain-free. The initial rehab was difficult and the post surgical pain lasted for several months but I would do it again in a heartbeat knowing the positive results.
