This is not a story about me climbing mountains or running marathons but rather getting "Back in the Game" of my daily life doing the things we sometimes take for granted and that are very meaningful to me.
My daughter who is a Physician Assistant at HSS suggested I see Dr. Boettner for a left knee replacement. I was told over 10 years ago, that I needed both knees replaced but opted to address only the right one.
After one year of receiving knee injections, I decided to schedule surgery which was performed on February 3, 2017 by Dr. Boettner. From the moment I walked into HSS on that day, I felt a sense of pride from all staff members and a true desire to help me achieve my postoperative goals. Everyone was professional, caring and helpful. Dr. Boettner did an excellent job with surgery and visited me daily as well as communicated his protocols so that I've have the best outcome.
Upon arriving home, I was doing so well that my physical therapist discharged me after three visits and I've been independently riding my stationary bike. I saw Dr. Boettner for my 4 week postoperative visit on March 9, 2017 and he was very happy with my recovery and range of motion. In fact, no more visits are necessary.
I am so grateful to Dr. Boettner, the Physician Assistants and nursing staff! In my 60's, I discovered my love for jogging and keeping fit and now I can continue without pain or decreased mobility. I recently rescued a dog and provide him with long walks and the life he deserves. I have four grandchildren and I look forward to being able to make memories with them without limitations.
