Typically, I do not take the time to post online reviews. However. my experience with Dr. Gausden and Hayden (PA) surpassed every expectation. At 55 years old, I had never had any surgery. At almost 56 years old, I’ve completed a hip replacement and a knee replacement - both at the skilled hands of Dr. Gausden. From my first consult with Dr. Gausden, I was confident I made the right decision to go to HSS. Dr. Gausden listens (and doesn’t take notes while listening). She is thoughtful and allowed for plenty of time to address all of my questions. Both she and Hayden are funny and compassionate. It is apparent that their goal is to restore their patients back to a healthy and active lifestyle. By the end of the first visit, I felt that they knew me. There was no push to go to surgery. They made sure I was confident that I had exhausted all other options before opting for surgery. I never felt like a case number or one of many coming through their exam room for joint surgery. The pre-op care, post-op care and follow-up care were amazing. Phone calls back to me were returned within an hour (no matter the time of day). Dr Gausden and Hayden exude confidence but are not at all arrogant. Seeing Hayden’s smile as I was rolled into the ER (both times) and a simple “you got this, Terry” really made the difference. I should also point out that Dr. Cheng (anesthesia) was an angel! She introduced herself as my personal bartender! She took a lot of time to explain the process to me - making me laugh throughout. I would be remiss to not mention the excellent and kind care that I received in recovery. I had my post-op follow-up this past week and found that I was actually sad to say goodbye to Hayden and Dr. Gausden — really felt like they care so deeply for their patients. While I am hopeful to not require future joint surgery, please know that if I do - I will absolutely consult Dr. Gausden and Hayden. They are truly remarkable healthcare professionals. Their rapport and mutual respect for one another is quite apparent and made me feel very at ease. I wish them continued success and luck in the future. Thank you for taking care of me!
