I spent months pinning down my problem. Until I saw Dr. Castellano, no one really spent time with me and examined me. I was to the point where I could barely walk, was using a cane and unable to manage stairs or getting into a taxi. I was in severe pain having had 2 children with natural childbirth was a walk in the park compared with this pain. Following a full back x-ray and MRI he pinpointed my problem. I had an epidural followed by physical therapy. I saw Betty Chow for P.T. who worked intensively with me. At first I was to swollen to have anything but massage. Following a second epidural a few months after the first I continued to work further with Betty Chow. I was then able to begin exercises. I continue them to this day. At end of my P.T. earlier this year both Betty Chow and Dr. Castellano recommended I take Pilates. I have been taking Pilates now for a working with Steven Fetterhuff at HSS. I see him weekly to work on core muscle strength.

Bottom line is these 3 dedicated people have given me my life back. I am now fully functional, up and down subway steps, no pain, and able to resume my favorite thing - travel. This summer, I spent weeks traveling from Istanbul to Athens with family. Climbing around historic sites and the Acropolis with my husband, children, daughter in law and grandchild. This was totally impossible before working with these dedicated professionals. I am thankful for HSS's Integrative Care Center and Dr. Castellano, Betty Chow and Steven Fetterhuff.
