Over 10 years ago my ankle gave out for the first time due to instability. Surgery was necessary and an anchor was inserted into my ankle—I was well on my way—or so I thought. Through the years, my ankle continued to give out repeatedly. I was fortunate enough that physical therapy worked, and I was able to come back and avoid another surgery. However, in October of 2014, my ankle gave out for the last time and I retore the ligaments again. There was no coming back this time.
As you can imagine, I was devastated. I began to research the best doctors and found Dr. Drakos. Dr. Drakos did not rush me into surgery and took the time to understand my injury. We tried different routes before determining that surgery was the best solution for me. My surgery took place on May 22, 2015.
The staff at HSS and Dr. Drakos' staff are world class. Their bedside manor was phenomenal and the continued support post-surgery has been outstanding. I am so grateful to Dr. Drakos because I am able to continue to live an active life. My ankle is stronger than it has ever been! I feel safe and secure, and would not be where I am today without Dr. Drakos and his staff. I recently got married in January of 2016 and wouldn't have been able to walk down the aisle if it wasn't for Dr. Drakos. I will be forever grateful!
