Dr. Elizabeth B. Gausden and Dr. Alejandro Leali gave me my life back! I am Back in the Game for sure! They gave me back my quality of life! Mobility!
I was crawling when I met them. I was crying in pain. I was bone on bone. I am a high risk patient. I was taking pain medications and lying in bed all day long. No one wanted to help me.
I knew HSS was the best I had heard! I called, made a appointment, got some x-rays, and was told by my physicians that they would definitely help me. They scheduled my hip replacement surgery right away.
We had a few minor setbacks during the pandemic, but before I knew it, I did all my pre-op clearance and had surgery scheduled at HSS in New York City! The facility was so neat and clean and the staff was amazing and so kind.
Pre-op was amazing. So organized and knowledgeable. Awesome anesthesiologist and team. They even helped me with my anxiety over my first surgery. "Snap", I was in and out of surgery!
What a view on the Hudson River. I had exceptional care. Sunrises and sunsets. Fabulous physical therapy. Dr. Gausden and her staff checked on me daily.
Dr. Gausden is wonderful, kind, and has lots of patience She is also positive, upbeat, trustworthy, honest, and so caring!
I am so blessed that Drs. Gausden and Leali gave me my life back! God bless you always. Thank you so very much!
March 1, 2023:
Dr. Aleksey Dvorzhinskiy and Dr. Gausden gave me my life back! I am Back in the Game again! Without mobility living life is extremely challenging. I am a high risk patient and my doctors helped me! They are both amazing!
After 3 years recovered from my hip replacement surgery; Boom! Crack! Trauma! I fell and broke my knee and ankle. More specifically, a plateau fracture and a broken ankle. My tibia and fibula. Oh my goodness.
After being taken to the closest ER by Ambulance I called Dr. Gausden, my hip surgeon, for help. She happened to be on vacation at the time but came to my rescue. Dr. Gausden called Dr. Aleksey Dvorzhinskiy, trauma surgeon in NYC. They consulted and called me back immediately. Told me if I say the word yes, they would come get me on Long Island and bring me to HSS in Manhattan to perform surgery immediately.
The ambulance came and transported me within an hour. I was checked in to my room and saw Dr. Aleksey Dvorzhinskiy that evening after I arrived. He had just finished another surgery and he was confident, kind, caring, smart and responsive to my needs. He reviewed my x-rays and scheduled my surgery.
I was brought to the operative floor where I meet my team of doctors and nurses that would be taking care of me. It over looks a beautiful view of the Hudson River. My anesthesiologist was very supportive and made me feel calm and comfortable.
Shortly after surgery, triage was amazing and personal. My RN made sure that I was not scared or upset as I woke up. She also made sure I was comfortable and in no pain.
Soon after, I was brought back to my room once again. My nurses and CNAs knew just how to help me move around to help me feel comfortable. They were also amazing!
Later that night, Dr. Dvorzhinskiy came to my room to visit with me and went over my new x-rays the next day. He showed me all the hardware that was inside my ankle and knee.
Within a week, I was ready to be discharged home or to rehabilitation to heal and begin with physical therapy. The social worker helped me to make all the arrangements I needed.
I continued my journey with outpatient physical therapy at the HSS facility in Uniondale two times a week with Varsha Seemangal. We worked on range of motion and strengthening. Each week I made great progress. I continue to make it happen!
I met with Dr. Dvorzhinskiy every month to follow up on my progress with healing and physical therapy. I was also amazed at the minimal pain and healing of my incisions. Dr. Dvorzhinskiy is a master surgeon and yes he played with erector sets and Legos as a child thank God lol!
The quality of care at HSS was exceptional! Highly skilled doctors, RNs, CNAs, physical therapists, technicians, administrative support, chefs, and housekeeping.
Thank you God, Dr. Dvorzhinskiy and Dr. Gausden! Feels like family every time we meet. God bless you and yours always and forever!
