I had my right hip resurfaced in 2018. Dr. Su informed me then that my left hip had about another five years remaining. Even though there was no subsequent annual deterioration of the left hip, he insisted each year it would not last past 2023. He was right, of course. Constant doubles squash competitions after the resurfacing in 2018 passed pain-free until last spring when I could tell at the end of a Pro-Am that the hip was "gone." Good news is I won the tournament with an awesome pro partner from Toronto, but it did occur to me it could be my last tournament ever. Dr. Su confirmed the bone-on-bone status via x-rays and I chose mid-August for the 2nd procedure. Ten weeks later, at the end of October, my awesome PT at HSS Westchester, Emily Cutler, blessed my mid-December return to competition via my Rye club's Member-Guest doubles tournament. A key highlight of our victory, for sure, was several spectators of the finals challenging whether I really had had any hip problems or surgeries in the first place. Thank you, Dr. Su and the entire HSS team!
