I highly recommend Dr. Steven McAnany and HSS for anyone requiring spinal fusion surgery. I had suffered with back pain, numbness, and tingling down my lower extremities for years until it got to the point that I could not walk more than 100 yards without having to sit. This affected everything I did and caused me daily limitations. I had consulted with many physicians and surgeons during my 12 plus years of back pain. This also included spinal injections and physical therapy. Nothing worked and I never was truly confident in the MD's I met with. I am in the healthcare industry and heard about Dr. McAnany when I was at HSS Orthopedics with Stamford Health. I made an appointment for my wife and I to meet him. We were both very impressed as soon as we met and when we left the appointment we knew he was "the guy" to perform my operation. He was the only physician who explained to me in detail why I had this condition and what he could do to correct it. He said I would need spinal fusion on L4-L5 and L5-S1. He said I would feel relief immediately following the surgery, in which I did. I had my surgery at the main campus in Manhattan and knew I was in the right place as soon as I entered. I was in the hospital for 2 nights, returned to work after 5 weeks and was playing golf again a little over 3 months. I just turned 50 years old and feel better than I have in my 30s. Dr. McAnany and HSS gave me my life back and I am forever grateful.
