Before I went to Dr. Rawlins at Hospital for Special Surgery, I could not stand, sit or walk without experiencing horrible pain and used a walker for short distances within the house. I was not able to have Christmas dinner with my family and had to forego the opera, concerts, and several holiday parties and events- including my niece's wedding. Most of my time was spent in bed. After meeting Dr. Rawlins, my world changed. He asked, "Do you want to spend the rest of your life this way?" This perceptive question helped me to make the decision to undergo surgery. Dr .Rawlins successfully performed a lumbar laminectomy, which relieved me of intractable, excruciating pain. He was pleased with the very thin surgical scar, and I am happy that I am pain free and can live the rest of my life doing things I like to do- even dancing. Thanks to a brilliant surgeon.
