As I aged, a family history of arthritis soon surfaced in my knees. Injections and minor surgeries did nothing to help. My sister in New York and a good friend where I retired in Florida both recommended the I pursue knee replacements at HSS. My Florida friend had a great experience with Dr. Steven Haas of HSS, and I flew to New York to meet with him in the spring of 2013. He is an outstanding professional, explained to me and my husband why knee replacement surgery was my only realistic option for relief, and was an exceptional surgeon in replacing the first of my knees. Once the anesthesia of the surgery wore off, I was shocked to find my arthritis had disappeared. The surgical scar was minimal, my recovery and rehabilitation smooth, and the entire staff in Dr. Haas's office and throughout HSS just exceptional! One year later I flew back to New York for replacement of my other knee, and the same result! I regard Dr. Haas and HSS as the reasons why I can walk once again comfortably and without the chronic pain I endured for so long.

My happy experiences at HSS for my knee surgeries were the prelude to my recent hip surgery. Again, family arthritis and a fall prompted me to pursue hip replacement surgery. Dr. Haas recommended that I meet with Dr. Danyal Nawabi, since among other things Dr. Nawabi specializes in anterior hip replacement surgery (something only recently appearing in the practices of orthopedic surgeons in Florida). Dr. Nawabi is just as professional and personable as Dr. Haas, and I quickly scheduled my hip surgery in April of 2015 with him. I had the same experience as my knee surgeries! Dr. Nawabi was not only an outstanding hip surgeon, but also a warm and personable gentleman as well. Again, true professionals at the top of their fields helped me through hip replacement surgery and a quick recovery and rehabilitation.

I am back in my game of dancing Zumba as the attached videos show, as well as countless other physical activities. I function now as if I never had knee and hip replacement surgeries. If I have need for any further orthopedic surgery in the future, I will not hesitate to contact Dr. Haas and Dr. Nawabi for their recommendations, and will return to HSS for whatever treatment and procedures I need. This hospital and its doctors and staff are nothing but spectacular!
