My name is Patrick Fanning I was involved in a serious car accident in 1981. I was given last rites by our local priest. I suffered multiple system injuries and additional fractures not mentioned, spent 3 months in a hospital with a severe acetabular fracture and complete fracture of my femur. Both injuries were not repaired properly, I was told I would not walk, and to repair it in the future. The doctors told me it could only be repaired once. After two years of rehabilitation and schooling, I went back to work in the building trades.
Working as a carpenter for 20 years, the stress injured my opposite leg enough to put me on disability. Shortly after 2002, I had no health insurance and could not find a doctor in Northern New Jersey to help. In 2010, I went to NYU and spoke to head of the orthopedics. Insurance problems, no confidence in the doctor’s opinions. Thirty four years have passed since my accident, I went to HSS on 11/7/2014 in Paramus, NJ, I was their first patient, I met Dr. Wang, who referred me to Dr. Gregory DiFelice. February 7, 2015 Dr. DiFelice repaired my injuries replacement of thigh bone and hip joint prosthesis. HSS and Dr. DiFelice accepted my insurance and helped me financially from start to finish. After the surgery, Dr. DiFelice told me “your chains have been broken, get up and walk”. As of this writing, 4/10/15 I am able to walk properly, with little discomfort something I have not done in over 25 years.
I go to bed thinking of all the possibilities now. I have a positive outlook on the road ahead. I appreciate everything everyone has done at HSS. Trust me HSS and Dr. DiFelice are the real deal they genuinely care!
