I came to HSS because of severe neck pain. I had very bad stenosis in my cervical spine. Dr. Seth Waldman was the only doctor I had seen up to that point in my life who GOT what pain I was in. I received trigger point injections in my neck/shoulder area by Dr. Waldman. I loved that he was kind and patient and answered so many questions from myself and my husband. It was about 2004 and we moved slowly towards my cervical spinal fusion at the time. It was inevitable that I needed the surgery but it was a process that I needed to go through and be prepared for physically and mentally. I then saw Dr. Frank Cammisa and he explained over the course of a few appointments what the surgery would entail, recovery etc. He was also very kind and I had total confidence on a great outcome from Dr. Frank Cammisa's surgical skills. I had a 2 level cervical neck fusion with instrumentation in September of 2005. It was a complete success. I no longer had to worry about getting into a car accident with my neck so compromised and the horrible pain in my neck and the base of my head was gone. The recovery went well and there was not much pain post surgery. Both doctors were amazing and treat conservatively and don't rush into any surgical procedure.
Fast forward to 2017 and I have been seeing Dr. Seth Waldman at least once a year or more because I also have a problem that has progressed with Lumbar Spondylolisthesis and Spondylosis. Dr. Cammisa will be doing my back surgery June 2017. I will be having a PLIF surgery on L5 and looking forward to being BACK IN MY GAME of gardening and helping care for my grandson and being pain free.
