Over the years, my knee pain got worse. I tried ice compression, heat pads, cortisone injections and physiotherapy and these only gave me temporary relief. I started avoiding social outings because my walk had developed into an embarrassing limp. I heard so many scary stories about knee replacement surgery such as how painful it was. A friend referred me to Dr. Carli, who had done his knee. I came to HSS for a second opinion and after consulting with Dr. Carli, he explained everything, including what the surgery entailed. I felt comfortable and confident enough to make him my surgeon. My surgery was very successful and my healing has been great. The pain management was top notch. The best thing is that I have bowlegs and I came out of surgery with a straighter leg. I can’t wait to get my other knee done so I can wear leggings for the first time, with my two pain-free and straight legs.
