Last year, I stepped on the field excited to play my first game for JV soccer. Unfortunately, that was the game that ended my season. My adrenaline was at a high when I went to kick the ball, and I was ready to score my first goal. However, at that time, I collided with another player and went down. The pain was instant. I tried to get up but that was not possible. I could not put any weight on my right leg. At that moment we all knew I needed medical attention. My parents and I were anxious about our appointment. When we met Dr. Jessica Heyer at HSS, she communicated and explained my femur injury in a calm and knowledgeable manner. She answered all of our questions and spent time going over the surgery and recovery. Dr. Heyer knew how important it was for me to get back on the soccer field. Dr. Heyer made such a difference in my recovery. She prescribed a detailed physical therapy plan and monitored my recovery along the way.
Six months after surgery, I was back on the field practicing with my team and getting ready for my junior year. It took a lot of grit and determination to get back in shape. It was not easy however, I was proud to make Varsity this year playing the sport I love. This would not have been possible without the support and care given from Dr. Heyer and all of the staff at HSS.
