38 years ago I was born with scoliosis. I have had 3 spine surgeries at Hospital for Special Surgery. As I kept growing, so did my spine. My last spinal fusion surgery was performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery by Dr. Han Jo Kim and his team on February 14, 2018. Given the fact that I had pre-existing rods and bolts in my spine, my surgery may have been one of the most complicated cases for Dr. Kim as it took him just over 8 hours to complete. The doctors have always explained my situation and provided me with alternative care before making my final decision. I knew that based upon what was explained to me that I was in safe hands. As a patient it says something that I keep coming back because its the only hospital I trust. Hospital for Special Surgery is the best. I am, and will always be proud of what this hospital does and stands for.
