At the time I was diagnosed with Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA), a form of vasculitis, I was unable to walk, I had shortness of breath, I had lost 30 lbs from an inability to eat, I had excruciating headaches and joints pain all day, vision and hearing loss and I severe nose bleeds almost daily. For 4 months health care providers were unable to pinpoint my illness and my symptoms were getting worse every day.
My wife and I were then were referred to rheumatologist Dr. Steven Magid.
Dr. Magid after meeting with us and doing immediate testing was able to diagnose my illness; and I was able to begin my chemotherapy treatments immediately that afternoon. That same day I was able to walk out of the hospital (under my own power) feeling better than I had in months.
It has been almost 11 years now. I have been managing my illness and its symptoms year after year with the periodic steroid and chemotherapy treatments. But I am able to again enjoy life, raise and coach my daughter in sports (who is now in college). I learned to be a great cook and love to travel. On very good days I can even play a round of golf again. I am so thankful to Dr. Steven Magid for "giving me my life back" so that I can enjoy my days again. For this am I truly grateful.... Mickey
