What brought me to HSS initially was to investigate the reoccurring pain and discomfort I was experiencing in my neck leading to numbness and tingling down parts of my left arm. For nearly two years, I would experience debilitating pain for weeks on end. As a husband, father of two and an avid golfer, I needed to address these symptoms as they were impacting my life from all angles.

After meeting with Dr. Qureshi and his team, we learned that I was suffering from instability in the C1 and C2 portions of my cervical spine. Dr. Qureshi thoroughly explained his recommendation, the next steps post-diagnosis, what to expect with a posterior C1-C2 fusion and the recovery process. Two of my biggest concerns were how would the post-surgical results and recovery impact my ability to be a husband/father of two as well as my ability to return to the golf course.

Fast forward 5 months post-surgery, my physical therapy team found that with the level of progress I've made, it would be good for me to return to the golf course to ease back into swinging a club. At the same time, Dr. Qureshi and his team gave my wife lifting clearance so that I could pick up my kids and return to normal Dad duties (which also means cleaning up after two kids under 4).

Easing Back in the Game of golf in month 5, I played 9 holes the first time back on the course and shot my average. Since then I've completed 4 more rounds of 18 holes shooting my average in the mid-80s.

This past weekend (June 11th, 2023), just days into month 6 post-surgery, I accomplished something I never thought could happen after a cervical fusion. On the 5th hole - Par 3 of Putnam County Golf Course - I made a hole-in-one at 157 Yards with a 9-Iron, my first hole-in-one.

Thanks to your expertise and dedication, not only did the surgery go smoothly, but I also experienced a remarkable recovery and golf achievement. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without your exceptional surgical skills and the care provided by you and your team throughout the entire process. It's truly a testament to the positive impact your expertise has had on my life.

I am immensely grateful for your unwavering commitment to my well-being and the exceptional care you have consistently shown me. Your expertise, professionalism, and genuine concern for your patients make you an outstanding surgeon.
