I came to Dr. Metzl 10 days before a marathon with a very painful foot which was preventing me from running for than a couple of miles. Dr. Metzl, who I knew is an experienced marathon runner himself, quickly identified the injury, prescribed some anti-inflammatories and said let's see how you feel in a week and do what you think you can for training during the week. I returned a week later with my foot feeling much better and 4 days to go for the marathon. Dr. Metzl listened to what I had been doing, checked the foot, and said it would be okay for me to run it.
I was worried the night before the marathon that the injury might resurface and cause me more severe damage but I had faith in Dr. Metzl's experience. He was absolutely right. The run was painless for my foot and because I had been able to train while I was recovering, the marathon was both enjoyable and I ran it relatively well. I was very happy with the very accurate advice that both allowed me and encouraged me to stay active. A very positive experience!
