I began seeing Dr. Jordan Metzl at HSS a couple of years ago for knee pain which was diagnosed as osteoarthritis. We tried everything including platelets replacement, knee gel injections and physical therapy. He or his staff was always available if I contacted his office by email or by phone to answer any questions. Eventually we knew knee replacement was in our future. We as men are stubborn. We buy arch supports, special shoes, creams, etc. Anything to avoid the surgery. In September of 2019 we knew it was time. Dr. Metzl recommended Dr. Robert Marx, also of HSS. Dr. Marx performed total knee replacement surgery on 15 November 2019. The experience in the hospital at HSS was outstanding from my arrival until my discharge on Saturday 16 November. That’s right. One night in the hospital and I was on my way to Jersey that afternoon. I’ll never forget Dr. Marx coming into my room Saturday morning clapping his hands. He hugged me before the surgery and that morning.
The whole staff at HSS is great. They demand that you are not in pain or uncomfortable. Plus the food is great. Bottom Line: the constant pain is gone. No more hobbling around looking like an old man. Stop putting it off. Get it done. Thanks HSS for giving my family Big Sully back.
