I am so very grateful that Dr. Mathias Bostrom was able to give me my quality of life back. I had a very successful left knee replacement this year (May 2017) and another very successful right knee replacement last year (April 2016) both by Dr. Bostrom.
I have a very long history of horrible knees from my past sports injuries along with a strong family history of osteoarthritis. To make matters much worse, I worked forty-one years full-time as a Physical Therapist with a lot of wear and tear on my knees.
I tried every intervention under the sun with minimal, if any results. When walking several steps became an ordeal, I realized I was headed for a wheelchair.
I finally made the difficult but necessary decision to undergo total knee replacements. I knew that the most important decision was my choice of a surgeon. After numerous consultations with surgeons, I knew Dr. Bostrom was the right one for me.
Dr. Bostrom, as well as his Physician Assistants, Nadzeya Zhylinskaya and Katherine Austin, are all outstanding professionals of the highest caliber. I could not have been happier with the phenomenal care that I received from him and his team before, during, and after my surgeries. This is an awesome group of highly skilled, dedicated and caring professionals. I also found his entire office staff exemplary. My knees are now perfect – it is as though I have my young knees back.
Because I still have significant back issues from lumbar spondylolisthesis and lumbar spinal stenosis, I cannot report I am hiking, skiing, surfing or playing sports, but I am okay with that. After not having my mobility for so long, I really appreciate being able to walk without severe knee pain and without canes. This has been life changing for me.
My only regret is not replacing my knees sooner as my body was so deconditioned from my immobility. Now I have my health back as well as my knees.
Thank you Dr. Bostrom and Hospital for Special Surgery from the bottom of my heart.
