In my late 30s I felt the first twinge of pain in my right hip. Within a couple of years it had worsened to the point that I needed care. I was told that I had arthritis likely from 1 of two serious falls as a young man. Because I was still young and active, I held off surgery until I hit 50, by which time I was using a cane. I went to Bob Buly, who performed total hip replacement surgery, which is still working fine now at age 72.

Years later, at age 66, I felt the same twinge in the other (left) hip, and so I had another total hip replacement, this one performed by Dr. Eduardo Salvati. I was up and about the following day and in 6 weeks had forgotten all about it.

More aging meant more arthritis and so last year I had both knees replaced by Dr. Fred Cushner. I am now back to all my activities, tennis, sailing, sculling, skiing and, best of all, just walking about town without pain.

Along the way, Dr. John MacGillivray cleaned up the residue of a shoulder dislocation/fracture and Dr. Mark Drakos performed 3 surgeries to clear up surgical infection from an ankle repair done in Utah.

Everything works and I have a full, productive and fun life thanks to them and the extraordinary staff of technicians, nurses, PAs and physical therapists who support their work. Thanks for 22+ great ski seasons HSS.
