I am a professional dancer. My training is in the Martha Graham Technique. In May 2015 I tore my rotator cuff. The MRI revealed that the tear was "massive;" that I required immediate surgery. Once it was determined that surgery was my only option, I knew that HSS was my only choice. I also knew that I needed a surgeon with particular experience and insights into the
rugged demands of professional athletes. My sole aim was to return to the studio with renewed strength and unlimited range of motion. Dr. Dines fulfilled my every expectation and hope. Not only did he make time for me in his schedule, but he allowed me to ask questions and probe his approach so that I could feel comfortable and informed about the surgery. It is quite stunning how his commitment to his patients does not end with the surgeries but that he continues to be generous with his time and expertise. His office staff, especially Valerie DiStefano, was and continues to be incredibly responsive and thoughtful as well. My Physical Therapist has noted that I am already ahead of schedule for my range of motion and re-gained strength. I credit Dr. Dines and his masterful surgery with this success. I am most grateful to him and to Hospital for Special Surgery.
