It is now several weeks since my life changing hip replacement surgery at the HSS.
I feel reborn, emerging from my prison of pain, immobility, and frustration to the freedom of activity and endless new possibilities.
A designer/fabricator in the fashion and interior design trade, my life had become so narrow and deformed as arthritis stole away huge portions of my life and creativity, to the point that I was no longer able to travel on the subway to purchase materials, or stand at my work table without pain.
Enter Dr. Gregory DiFelice, a superb joint reconstruction specialist, who skillfully and without fuss undertook the successful replacement of my right hip. I am most grateful for his vast knowledge and ability, and his confidence that I would be able to negotiate the 35 steps to the various levels of my “vertical house”, which I did on the third day following surgery. Ten days later I added the extra 12 steep steps to my attic workshop.
Dr. DiFelice is without doubt one of those rare great doctors who cares deeply about his patients, giving generously of himself to restore them to health and full mobility.
The personnel at the HSS were also outstanding in all matters pertaining to my care, and
I thank everyone who assisted in my quest to reclaim my life.
