I have always been an athlete - I love tennis, swimming, and going on long walks. (In fact, my husband and I own a tennis academy.) I was born with a hip condition, and it got much worse when I had my first child. I actually displaced my hip. Over time, the pain got worse and worse until it got to the point that I could hardly walk. I was so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep, so I was tired all the time and had no energy. The pain was affecting every part of my life—my character changed, even my children got used to saying that I had to stay behind or couldn’t do things because of my pain. It affected my entire family.
I knew I needed to fix it, but I was scared. I finally decided to do something about it, and I went right to HSS. I knew they were the best and I didn’t want to go anywhere else. Plus, I could have my appointments and surgery at HSS Stamford, which is much closer to my home.
When I met Dr. Kahlenberg, she made me feel totally comfortable and confident so we went ahead with the hip replacement and I could not be happier! I am back to walking with my kids, playing tennis, anything I want to do. This surgery changed my life and I am so grateful.
