I had torn my ACL in an unfortunate skiing incident in the Winter of 2019. I saw a few doctors, but none of them seemed as knowledgeable yet caring as Dr. Hannafin. She answered all of my questions and gave me the time and space to decide on the surgery. I was extremely scared to have such an invasive procedure and worried I wouldn't be able to get back to what I love the most - hiking, skiing, running and rock climbing.
I had surgery in April 2019 with Dr. Hannafin. I had a full ACL reconstruction with my own hamstring graft. After the surgery, I was lucky to feel relatively little pain so I started PT on the third day after the surgery. I worked hard in PT 2-3 times a week for the first 4 months.
I'm happy to share that 12 weeks after the surgery I started running and rock climbing. At 16 weeks I climbed Mt. Fuji with zero pain. It's been about 18 weeks now, and I feel great! I still have a bit of stiffness in the knee especially after long sitting sessions, but I know that'll go away with time too.
I am extremely grateful for the time and care of Dr. Hannafin and her staff. They are incredible!
