It was a few years ago, when I noticed that I complained about muscle aches, and a lot of knee pain and decided to make an appointment for an evaluation after hearing about HSS through a person I was a home health aide for. Since then, I have seen many excellent doctors throughout my time here at HSS, but I am currently treated by rheumatologist, Dr. David Fernandez, for my osteoarthritis. Dr. Fernandez is someone who I respect deeply and who has helped me in conjunction with the team of social workers from the program VOICES60+, Alba Rosa and Juliette Kleinman.

Dr. Fernandez has always been respectful, kind, and has a genuine interest in helping all of his patients, myself included. Dr. Fernandez will do everything he can to make sure his patients are as good as possible. He listens to you and tries to find solutions to help you feel better.

The social workers were the perfect complement and the emotional support that I needed to surpass all the difficulties with the discomfort in my bones. I have so much appreciation for them! Juliette and Alba especially helped me when I felt sad due to life problems. They have listened to me and supported me, always. They also helped me get my transportation to be able to attend my medical appointments, comfortably. And this is just to name a few of the many wonderful things they do for older adults!

There may always be some other drawbacks in life, some days are easier than others, but I feel better in their hands. Without the help of the whole team, I think that nothing would have been possible. I will always be thanking them.

Hace unos años, cuando me di cuenta de que me quejaba de dolores musculares y mucho dolor de rodilla, decidí hacer una cita para una evaluación, después de escuchar sobre HSS a través de una persona para la que era asistente de salud en el hogar. Desde entonces, he visto a muchos médicos excelentes como paciente en HSS, pero actualmente, estoy siendo tratado por el reumatólogo, el Dr. David Fernández, para mi osteoartritis. El Dr. Fernández es alguien a quien respeto profundamente y que me ha ayudado junto con el equipo de trabajadores sociales del programa VOICES60 +, Alba Rosa y Juliette Kleinman.

Los trabajadores sociales fueron el complemento perfecto y el apoyo emocional que necesitaba para superar todas las dificultades con la incomodidad en mis huesos. ¡Tengo mucho aprecio por ellos! Juliette y Alba me ayudaron especialmente cuando me sentía triste por los problemas de la vida. Me han escuchado y apoyado, siempre. También me ayudaron a conseguir mi transporte para poder asistir a mis citas médicas, cómodamente. ¡Y esto es solo para mencionar algunas de las muchas cosas maravillosas que hacen por sus adultos mayores!

Siempre puede haber otros inconvenientes en la vida, algunos días son más fáciles que otros, pero me siento mejor en sus manos. Sin la ayuda de todo el equipo, creo que nada hubiera sido posible. Siempre les estaré agradeciendo.
