I am a competitive dancer on the Rutgers University Dance Team. In the fall of 2023, I started experiencing hip pain. As an athlete, I pushed myself through nationals season despite the discomfort. After returning home from nationals, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Buza. She quickly diagnosed me with a torn labrum in my hip, and surgery was scheduled for March 1, 2024.

Dr. Buza has been incredible throughout this journey. Following a successful surgery, she created a recovery protocol that guided me back to the dance floor. More than just a surgeon, Dr. Buza has been available to me at all times throughout my recovery. Her outstanding staff, including Megan, Delilah, and Monica, went above and beyond to support me and my family. I will be forever grateful to them.

A special thanks to Ashleigh McAdam, who challenged me during physical therapy and motivated me to return to the sport I love. After eight months of hard work between HSS and Rutgers Athletics, I officially graduated from physical therapy and can now focus solely on dance.

I am officially back to performing at football and basketball games, and I’ll be starting nationals practice next month with the goal of competing in January 2025. None of this would have been possible without Dr. Buza and her wonderful team, who have become like family to me. Going from not being able to walk to dancing pain-free has been an incredible journey, and I owe it all to Dr. Buza.
