At the end of February 2021, I hurt myself doing what I love - snowboarding. I was in Vermont when it happened. I was put in a splint and my parents drove me back to NYC to be treated. I broke my femur, dislocated my kneecap and broke my growth plate. Dr. Dodwell did emergency surgery on me the next day.
After surgery I was placed in a full leg cast with wires to keep everything together and I was unable to bear weight on my injured leg. The wires were removed at 4 weeks with new hip to ankle cast applied. At 6 weeks I was cast-free and now able to put weight on my leg. I started aggressive physical therapy right away and I worked really hard in physical therapy. By mid-June 2021 I was back on snow at Big Snow trying to get myself back. I trained hard and I was able to pick up where I left off and I had the best snowboard season this year.
Thank you Dr. Dodwell for getting me back to what I love!
